What: Scavenger hunt
Where: Campus wide
When: Thursday, Friday and Monday (Aug 24,25, and 28)

Each day, for the first three days of classes, Chi Alpha’s giant inflatable duck will be somewhere on campus. Inside, outside, upstairs, downstairs, walking down the sidewalk, chillin’ in the Student Center, it could be anywhere that is accessible to all students.
Everyone is welcome to participate. When you find the duck, simply take a selfie with it, upload it to social media with #XADirtyDuck, and tag Chi Alpha, @UCAChiAlpha.
But wait… there’s more! At 5:00 each day a winner will be randomly selected from among everyone who posted and tagged a photo that day. Winners of the daily prizes will be announced on social media.
On Tuesday, Aug 29, everyone who found the duck all three days will be entered into a drawing to win the fabulous grand prize!
Follow @UCAChiAlpha on Instagram for hunting tips and clues.

Why a Dirty Duck?
Well..
The Kingdom of God is Like a Dirty Duck
A little duck who has had her feathers coated in oil will die in one of two ways. Thick, sticky oil keeps her feathers from laying smoothly across her body, limiting her ability to retain body heat. Instinctually she knows that if she does not get her feathers clean she will die of exposure. So she sets out to clean herself, incessantly preening her feathers. The product of her obsessive work is exhaustion and a belly full of oil. If exposer does not kill her, her attempts to clean herself will.
This little duck has one hope.
If the Wildlife Rescuer finds her, scoops her up, and gives her a bath, she will live. Either staying in her filth, or attempting to clean herself will lead to inescapable death, but the Rescuer can do for her what she cannot do for herself. Can you imagine her delight when she realizes that she has been saved? With a knowing beyond words, she was certain that she was going to die, but he saved her. For the rest of her life, she will follow him wherever he goes.
Such is the Kingdom of God. Efforts to right ourselves only worsen our sin problem, leaving us exhausted, disillusioned, and with multiplied sorrows. We have one hope. As we yield to the lordship of Jesus, he does the thing we cannot do for ourselves.
This parable tells us three critical things.
I am a dirty duck. It is not enough to know that I have sinned theoretically. Until I have felt the sorrow of my sin I am missing a critical element of the Gospel.
I need help. All of my efforts at self-mastery have only made my suffering worse. I need Jesus to do for me what I cannot do for myself. I need to be rescued.
I want to hunt for dirty ducks. Once I have known the joy and freedom of being rescued, it is a great delight to partner with Jesus as he seeks and saves others.
